Jones Well Drilling, Inc. (JWD) offers services for residential homeowners, municipalities, commercial and business entities, and engineering and environmental professionals at competitive prices. Estimates are provided at no charge.

Water Well Systems [Top]
Clean drinking water is one of the most important environmental concerns in our society. We drill, construct and install residential/domestic, municipal, commercial, irrigational, and agricultural water well systems. We take every precaution to ensure that your water will be safe to use and consume.
Environmental Services [Top]
The environmental industry and regulators rely on physical and chemical analytical data generated from specific monitoring points to characterize site conditions. We recognize that the quality of those monitoring points is paramount to the decision-making process. We are willing to go the extra mile to attain the geological and hydrogeological integrity of each monitoring point with the best equipment, materials, decontamination process, and techniques available in compliance with the requirements of your project and regulatory authority.
JWD drills soil borings, constructs monitoring wells, develops and re-conditions wells, abandons and seals
monitoring wells, as well as collects soil and groundwater samples.
Geothermal Systems [Top]
Geothermal (or ground-source) heat pumps are environmentally-friendly heating and cooling systems for your home or business that help to reduce dependency on foreign petroleum products by means of up to 70% renewable energy and ultimately SAVE YOU MONEY when compared long-term against traditional systems. This modern technique utilizes the stable temperature of the ground to cost effectively heat and cool your living or working environment. Geothermal system tax credits are available to offset the cost of implementation or conversion (Federal Tax Credit, State of Maryland, MD Counties with additional incentive: Harford, Howard, Montgomery).
JWD installs and tests (pressure and conductivity) the geothermal heat exchange system (or ground loop) to maximize the efficiency of the geothermal unit.
Well Yield and Pump Testing [Top]
Following the completion of a newly installed residential/domestic well or prior to a property transfer, a well yield test is typically a jurisdictional regulatory requirement that must be completed. We can also provide aquifer pump testing services for projects that require aquifer analysis for large water volumes.
Hydrofracturing [Top]
Hydrofracturing (or hydrofracing) is generally conducted with the intent to increase available water quantities in areas where rock formations demonstrate low permeability. This process involves injecting water into the formation at high pressure to clean and further open existing water-bearing fractures in bedrock to allow for more efficient water flow. Some results have shown improvement in well production to meet yield requirements or desired water needs.
Well Pump Services [Top]
Traditional and constant pressure-variable speed submersible pumps are most commonly used in our service region. Constant pressure-variable speed pumps have developed over the past several years as a measure to maintain a constant water pressure in the home similar to homes that are connected to municipal systems.
JWD has qualified, certified, and experienced well pump technicians on staff to install, troubleshoot, or repair well pumps.
Well Chlorination [Top]
Chlorination of water wells is conducted to sanitize a residential/domestic or commercial water system to be safe for human consumption. This service is required for a property transfer when the water quality test fails for bacteria. We recommend that water well systems be chlorinated any time a pump is physically removed from the well or following a new pump installation. These are conditions where bacteria can be unwittingly introduced into your water system and could potentially adversely affect the health of the individuals residing at the dwelling or business.
JWD conducts both traditional and forced well chlorination. Forced well chlorination attempts to kill bacteria that have locally-migrated into the formation surrounding the well. It is recommended after a thorough traditional chlorination has failed to effectively eliminate bacteria from the system.
Well Abandonment and Sealing [Top]
Wells that no longer serve their intended purpose are required to be abandoned and sealed per jurisdictional regulations to prevent the development of a potential pathway for contaminants to be introduced into a potable water source. Hand dug wells, wells that no longer meet regulatory minimum production requirements, well borings that do not produce a sufficient water quantity, and monitoring wells that are no longer needed are most common to be abandoned and sealed.
Downhole Camera Well Inspection [Top]
JWD has the capability to visually document and record the interior of wells from the surface to the completed depth. This service is typically requested to determine vertical water flow directions, target depth ranges to apply hydrofracturing techniques, or identify potential problem areas when troubleshooting well issues.
